If you are coming to either of our events in March (or even if you are not), you might like to come along to one of our social evenings as well, to meet up with others who are also fans of Dynamics CRM. A less formal environment than the events themselves can make it easier to break the ice and get to know people a bit better, so you feel able to reach out to them when you need help with something later on.
March 17th in Reading
Our thanks to (unofficial) Social Secretary Andrew Bibby for organising this one. After the last meeting in Reading, we felt there was maybe reluctance on the part of some members to come along for what seems like a night of sitting around drinking, with no great opportunity to get food at any point. To that end, Andrew has booked a table in a buffet restaurant in the centre of Reading (where some of use ended up going for food last time) at 7:30 on Tuesday March 17th.
The restaurant is called Cosmo and is part of a chain across the UK. They do a fixed price, self service buffet with a real cross section of pan-Asian food from Indian curries, through Thai and Singaporean dishes to Japanese sushi and Chinese favourites, as well as Italian food, a range of salads – basically something for everyone. There are also menus for made to order items if you really can’t find something on the buffet, and restaurants are fully licensed with a range of world beers, wines and soft drinks.
Location / address details are here: Cosmo Reading, and you will see it is only a short walk from the train station or from many of the central hotels.
As people will be re-filling their plates periodically, this might also give you an opportunity to move around and meet new people after each course. (maybe we should make it mandatory?)
Please sign up in advance through the Eventbrite page for the CRMUG Reading dinner. There is a £5 deposit per head for larger groups, so we are asking for this up front. Since CRMUG is a purely voluntary operation, by users, for user, we have no funds for this. While Andrew is organising this, we can’t expect him to pay this out of his own pocket. Dinner is £13.99 per person; you will pay the remaining £8.99 on the night.
We really look forward to seeing as many of you as possible for an enjoyable evening.
March 11th in Edinburgh
Rather than have a social evening the night before the Edinburgh event, since fewer people seem to stay over for this one, we will adjourn to the pub after the main CRMUG meeting itself. Our final session of the day will be to elect a committee to organise the Scotland group going forward, so once we have done that we can go and have a pint or a wee dram to congratulate the new team!
Rather than having to walk too far, we will probably head round the corner to the Guildford Arms, which still leaves us near to the station for those leaving by train later. If anyone knows of a better venue near to Microsoft’s office at Waverley Gate, please let us know in the comments.
