UK Spring Prize Draw

If you register for and attend either of the two UK spring meetings and complete your feedback form, your name will be entered into a free prize draw.

The first name drawn will win a Microsoft Exam voucher donated by Adam Vero. You can use this to take any Microsoft exam for free, so you can prove to yourself and others that you really know CRM – or choose a different subject if you prefer. If you use it to take an exam soon, you can use Second Shot to retake a Microsoft Certification Exam for Free if you don’t manage to pass the first time, so this really is a great opportunity to get your first CRM qualification, or maybe complete a set if you have passed some exams already.

So it really is simple:

  1. Register for CRMUG Edinburgh meeting March 11th 2015 or CRMUG Meeting in Reading March 18th 2015
  2. Attend on the day
  3. Complete your feedback form and hand it in before you leave
  4. We will enter you in the draw.

The voucher code will be sent by email to the winner after we have collated the feedback from the Reading event.

CRMUG Meeting in Edinburgh July 15th 2015

Regretfully, we don’t have enough support, speakers or volunteers to run a separate chapter north of the border at the moment, so until further notice we will not be organising any meetings in Scotland. If anyone would like to take on the job of organising events further north, please get in touch via the comments in the first instance.

This placeholder page will not be updated further, but will remain in place for anyone wondering where the event went. Please use the short URL CRMUG.UK/20150715 to share links to this page.

Don’t forget to follow @CRMUGUK on twitter for updates.

CRMUG Social Evenings March 2015

If you are coming to either of our events in March (or even if you are not), you might like to come along to one of our social evenings as well, to meet up with others who are also fans of Dynamics CRM. A less formal environment than the events themselves can make it easier to break the ice and get to know people a bit better, so you feel able to reach out to them when you need help with something later on.

March 17th in Reading

Our thanks to (unofficial) Social Secretary Andrew Bibby for organising this one. After the last meeting in Reading, we felt there was maybe reluctance on the part of some members to come along for what seems like a night of sitting around drinking, with no great opportunity to get food at any point. To that end, Andrew has booked a table in a buffet restaurant in the centre of Reading (where some of use ended up going for food last time) at 7:30 on Tuesday March 17th.

The restaurant is called Cosmo and is part of a chain across the UK. They do a fixed price, self service buffet with a real cross section of pan-Asian food from Indian curries, through Thai and Singaporean dishes to Japanese sushi and Chinese favourites, as well as Italian food, a range of salads – basically something for everyone. There are also menus for made to order items if you really can’t find something on the buffet, and restaurants are fully licensed with a range of world beers, wines and soft drinks.

Location / address details are here: Cosmo Reading, and you will see it is only a short walk from the train station or from many of the central hotels.

As people will be re-filling their plates periodically, this might also give you an opportunity to move around and meet new people after each course. (maybe we should make it mandatory?)

Please sign up in advance through the Eventbrite page for the CRMUG Reading dinner. There is a £5 deposit per head for larger groups, so we are asking for this up front. Since CRMUG is a purely voluntary operation, by users, for user, we have no funds for this. While Andrew is organising this, we can’t expect him to pay this out of his own pocket. Dinner is £13.99 per person; you will pay the remaining £8.99 on the night.

We really look forward to seeing as many of you as possible for an enjoyable evening.

March 11th in Edinburgh

Rather than have a social evening the night before the Edinburgh event, since fewer people seem to stay over for this one, we will adjourn to the pub after the main CRMUG meeting itself. Our final session of the day will be to elect a committee to organise the Scotland group going forward, so once we have done that we can go and have a pint or a wee dram to congratulate the new team!

Rather than having to walk too far, we will probably head round the corner to the Guildford Arms, which still leaves us near to the station for those leaving by train later. If anyone knows of a better venue near to Microsoft’s office at Waverley Gate, please let us know in the comments.

CRMUG Edinburgh March 2015 Agenda

The agenda for our next meeting in Edinburgh on 11th March 2015 is now pretty much finalised, although we might add a round table session to this. Don’t forget to follow @CRMUGUK on twitter for updates.

While we hope to build the size of the audience at these events, the smaller group means that this remains a single-track event with a mixture of technical and non-technical content to suit all members. This seems a better approach for now than trying to split a small audience in half for several sessions.

What can you do to help?

Note the final session of the day is to discuss how we move forward with the group and to ask for people to step up and volunteer to form a committee (or leadership team or planning group – whatever you want to call yourselves). We need people to find and coordinate speakers and generally manage and publicise the event (taking advantage of our existing website and social network channels of course). There will always be some overlap with the “southern” group and some speakers are happy to travel to both to share their content.

The leadership team will of course continue to receive support from the wider UK committee and and the US “back office” team. However, it will be important to continue to find local customers who can speak about their CRM story, as well as technical presenters who can deliver educational sessions. Join in with the discussion and let us know what you think!

Agenda

We are meeting on 11th March at Microsoft’s Edinburgh offices. We hope to see lots of new members as we grow this Scotland and Northern England group.

This meeting will be free to attend for all CRMUG members, thanks to Microsoft’s kind and continued support of our events, providing venues and refreshments for us. You can sign up for a Basic subscription to CRMUG at no cost.

CRMUG UK Scotland & North of England Inaugural Meeting

The agenda for this meeting is now pretty much finalised as below. As the number of registered attendees is much smaller than Reading, this is mainly a single-track event with a mixture of technical and non-technical content to suit all members, with one breakout session in the afternoon.

We are meeting on 20th November at Microsoft’s Edinburgh offices. We will have some new speakers, and some of our best sessions from previous meetings will get an “encore” at this event. We hope to see lots of new members who cannot usually attend due to the distances involved.

This meeting will be free to attend for all CRMUG members, thanks to Microsoft’s kind and continued support of the events, providing venues and refreshments for us. You can sign up for a Basic subscription to CRMUG at no cost.
