The next UK CRM User Group is in London on Tuesday 5th July. We have some great educational, informative and entertaining sessions for you from peers and industry experts.

Who can attend?

This meeting is free to attend for all CRMUG members and subscribers, thanks to Microsoft’s kind and continued support of the events, providing venues and refreshments for us. You can sign up for a Basic membership of CRMUG at no cost. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience what the CRMUG has to offer you and other Dynamics CRM users!

Registration

Registration is now closed for this event. Because of the location in the heart of the financial district, we will not be able to allow unregistered “walk-ins”. If you have not registered for this event then make sure to save the date for our next meeting on Wednesday November 23rd and register in plenty of time. See CRMUG.UK/20161123 for details.

Agenda

Feel free to arrive at any time from about 8:45 to enjoy coffee and breakfast pastries and get a bit of extra networking time before we start the day. Maybe reach out in advance to people you have met at previous events, and arrange to meet and catch up on what you are doing with your CRM projects at the moment over a hot drink.

The agenda below is of course subject to change, so don’t forget to follow @CRMUGUK on twitter for updates.

Dashboards workshop session – share your content

Workshop / discussion sessionAt the user group meeting in November we will have a workshop session to talk about what dashboards are, why people use them, and how you can design and deploy them to give your users the best possible information to support their business decisions.

To aid with this discussion, we would like some real examples from your own CRM systems to use as a basis to talk around.

If you have a really interesting dashboard, or one that took you some time to get right, please share this so we can all benefit from your success. Likewise, if you’re struggling to design a dashboard, or have one that does not quite give users what you had hoped, bring that along and see if your peers can help by suggesting ways to improve it.

How can I submit my dashboard to share it?

Ideally, take a full-screen screenshot of your dashboard and send it to me (Adam Vero) at CRMUG <at> meteorit dot co dot uk. In the email let me know if I need to anonymise or redact things such as unique customer names, revenue figures etc. Wherever possible I would like to do this by replacing with dummy names, values and so on so that the overall sense of the dashboard is retained. In other cases I can simply blur things out as needed. I will of course let you see a copy of the final version I plan to share on the day for you to review.

If you don’t have your dashboard completed yet, and want some input during your design and review stages, then send me any kind of mock-up, scanned napkin sketches, photo of your recent whiteboard drawings or whatever else you have. We’ll let the collective experience of the group pitch in with ideas for you to take away and think about.

You don’t have to submit in advance if you are not happy with that, just come along armed with either your own local copy on your laptop / tablet, or ready to connect to your system and share a live version. This would also be good if what makes your dashboard great is the way users can interact with it, drill down etc.

While dashboards that can be built using CRM’s own features are the priority here, it would also be interesting to see anything you have built using other tools such as Power BI, QlikView, or even Excel or SSRS (especially if they have some interaction, drill-down or hyperlink behaviours)

Is this a technical session?

This very much depends on the group. The intention is to focus on the high level stuff – what makes a good dashboard, and how to design for data sense-making, decision support or exploratory analytics. But if the pain points or most useful approaches have technical solutions, then we can discuss those too. This will not be a presentation with lots of slides; it will be an old school chalk-and-talk discussion, sharing great ideas and best practices.

(I will also try and keep us out of the nitty gritty of customisations for individual charts and editing chart XML, which we have covered at a previous meeting, and if we see the need we could do again in this sort of format).

If you have any questions, please get in touch via the comments below, or more privately via email (above) or DM on twitter @AdamVero.

CRM Users social evening in London 9th November

As is our tradition here at the UK CRM user Group, we will be having a social evening starting at 7:30 on Monday 9th November, the night before the main CRMUG UK meeting on Tuesday 10th. Since many of you will be travelling and staying over, and others are relatively local to start with, this will be held near to Microsoft’s offices in Victoria at La Tasca on Cathedral Walk, Cardinal Place.

Register now!

To make sure we get space for everybody to sit together, please register via the EventBrite page that Andrew Bibby has very kindly set up: CRMUG UK November 2015 London dinner.

We have a special offer fixed-priced menu that will mean you get to try various different tapas and then fight share with each other once you have decided on your favourites. You will be responsible for paying for your drinks on the night and contributing to a tip if you wish to.

CRMUG UK November 2015 Meeting Agenda

The next UK CRM User Group is in London on Tuesday 10th November. We have a fantastic line-up of 12 sessions of practical information and advice for you from peers and industry experts.

Two focus areas

We have two main areas of focus for this event, which are really fundamental to CRM, no matter what your organisation uses it for.

The first is the theme of “customers”, (or “clients”, or “citizens”, if you prefer), from how you can engage with your customers as effectively as possible to how Microsoft can help you to succeed as a Dynamics CRM customer. We also have not one, but two customer showcase sessions so you can find out how other organisations are taking advantage of CRM to manage their processes and deliver business value.

The second key subject highlighted on our agenda is “data”. This will include looking at how to get your data from other systems into CRM, managing data quality and presenting timely, relevant information to users through dashboards.

Registration is open for this event at the CRMUG UK November 2015 meeting page at CRMUG.com. Although the detailed agenda is not finalised yet, you can sign up today to make sure you get reminders nearer the time. If you have any difficulty getting registered for the event, please don’t just give up. Either contact the CRMUG support team or email “CRMUG <at> meteorit.co.uk”.

Agenda

Please note the slightly earlier start time for this meeting than previous ones. Feel free to arrive at any time from about 8:30 to enjoy coffee and breakfast pastries and get a bit of extra networking time before we start the day. Maybe reach out to people you have met at previous events and agree to meet up and catch up on what you are doing with your CRM projects at the moment.

CRMUG UK November 2015 Meeting shaping up

Planning is well under way for our meeting in London on 10th November. We have some speakers lined up with some great educational sessions, as well as round table discussions, but we still need a good customer showcase session. But we still want to hear more from our members and keep the focus on a user group that is “by users, for users”, so…

Call for customer showcase speakers

Do you have something to share? Have you done something interesting with CRM? Maybe you are using the product in an unusual “XRM” way, or your project had some particular challenges that you were able to overcome. Have you recently upgraded, migrated or integrated with other products or services?

Please get in touch if you think you could put together a short presentation about your experiences so that other members can see a different perspective. We’ll give you loads of support to help you deliver a great session. Reach out via the comments, message us on twitter @CRMUGUK or email CRMUG-at-meteorit.co.uk.

Microsoft Roadmap and Conduit sessions

Last time our meeting unfortunately clashed with an internal Dynamics team meeting at Microsoft UK, so we were not able to get our usual roadmap session, which was missed. This time we will have lots of representation from Microsoft including a possible visit from a corporate VP (fingers crossed that schedules work out as planned). We will get to hear about the latest news for the fall release and the future direction of Dynamics CRM and related products.

There will also be some “conduit” round table sessions where you can give feedback directly to Microsoft and ask questions to get answers “from the horse’s mouth”.

Registration

The event page for the CRMUG UK November 2015 meeting is online at CRMUG.com. Although the detailed agenda is not finalised yet, you can sign up today to make sure you get reminders nearer the time.

Location

This meeting will be at Microsoft’s Customer Centre in London

Cardinal Place
80-100 Victoria Street
London
SW1E 5JL

That’s a 2 minute walk from Victoria tube station, serviced by the Victoria, Circle and District Lines.

Hope to see you there!

CRMUG London meeting biggest ever

On 8th July we had a fantastic meeting, with 79 Dynamics CRM users, administrators, customisers, developers and partners. This was our highest turnout at CRMUG UK in over two years, and our biggest ever CRM User Group event in London.

Thank you to everyone who came along, and especially those who shared their thoughts and experiences with others, and of course we are indebted to all of our speakers. A big thank you also to Andrew Bibby for organising the social evening, where 17 of use were able to share a meal, and catch up with one another before the hectic main event.

Next meeting 10th November

Our next UK meeting will be on Tuesday 10th November. This page:
http://CRMUG.UK/20151110 will be updated with links to the agenda and registration page (and social evening information) as we progress with planning things. Note this URL is simply the event date in YYYYMMDD format, so should be easy to remember, and short enough to share with others via social media and other channels.

You can also download a calendar entry from there to get this blocked out in your diary, and that has a link back to the page for ease of reference later.

Call for speakers

If you have a customer story to tell, or some technical experience you think others could benefit from, please get in touch about speaking at one of our events. We have sessions in various formats from stand-up presentations, to interactive discussions and round tables.

We are open to all suggestions for how we can best deliver great information to our audience. It does not have a to be a deep dive of something complex, or the latest and greatest features. Some of our members are quite new to CRM, so there is always someone who can learn from you what you have only just done, but we need content, so speak up!

For news and latest information follow @CRMUGUK on twitter.

Thanks again to everyone for a great meeting – see you in November!
